Gluten-free flat bread that can be stuffed for any occasion: breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 cup
- Water OR Chicken Stock OR Beef Stock1 cup
- Unsalted Butter (optional)1 tbsp
- Salt1 tsp
Directions
- Step 1Add corn flour to a large bowl.
- Step 2Add either the water OR stock to the bowl and mix throughly.
- Step 3Roll up a ball about the size of a fist and then use your palms in a gentle clapping motion to flatten it.
- Step 4Use the sides of your hands to smooth out the edges and keep the arepa nice and round.
- Step 5Place the arepa on a lightly oiled pan over high heat for 5-8 minutes per side.
Chef's notes
- You may need to adjust the quantity of liquid. Add enough so the dough is moderately sticky, but can form a smooth ball when rolled with your hands.
- After the arepa is cooked, slice halfway through the middle and add a few small knobs of butter to make it moist and flavorful.
