Creamy spinach with fresh and firm paneer (cheese) best served with roti, naan, or even pasta. Healthy and flavorful, this dish is sure to win over meat eaters and vegetarians alike.
Ingredients
- Chopped Spinach, pureed2 cups
- Paneer, cut into cubes1 cup
- Masala Paste (go to recipe)1/2 cup
- Ginger, crushed into a paste2 inches
- Garlic, crushed into a paste6-8 cloves
- Onion, diced1/2 medium
- Green Chili Pepper, chopped1 small
- Heavy Cream (optional)1/4 cup
- Water1/4 cup
- 2 tablespoons
- 1 teaspoon
- 1 teaspoon
- 1 pinch
- Saltto taste
Directions
- Step 1Heat ghee in a pot over medium heat.
- Step 2Add onions and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Step 3Add ginger and garlic paste and cook them until they start to change color, about 2-3 minutes.
- Step 4Add masala paste and mix well, cooking for another 2-3 minutes.
- Step 5Add pureed spinach and water, simmer for 15 minutes.
- Step 6Add paneer and simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Step 7Add heavy cream, kasuri methi, garam masala, salt, and hing.
Chef's notes
- Use a food processor to quickly make a paste from the ginger and garlic
- If available to you, buy all the spices from an Indian supermarket to find them in bulk, fresh, and CHEAP!
